The F.E.B renegades are in full effect..well my music appreciation began with my folks, I listen to jazz as a kid everybody from Max Roach to Miles Davis, also there was a lot of gospel...Of course there was R & B, Motown, the Philly sound, the beginnings of Hip Hop and Break Music with Cool Herk and the Heruloids etc...then there was funk and fusion every body from James Brown to Weather Report, Herbie Handcock, also some rock from guys like Montrose, Dennis Coffey, Buddy Miles, etc...Kraftwerk really brought home computer music...and I love to listen to classical....well anyway I guess my tracks are influenced by all those genres, no i don't play any instrument but I wish I could...Also growing up in the Bronx I was exposed to salsa and latin jazz, reggae,...One thing about Audiotool is that it has really grown since the days I first heard about it on G4 tv, then it was Hobnox and the best featured was the real time changes you could make while doing the mixdown. And had more social content Wow I've been listening to a lot of tracks lately, my favorites step outsides the bounds of convention and people who try and sound so perfect that their tracks have lost a certain thing...soul?...but i don't hate on them...All i know is most of the true genius happens without constraints...Make music that pleases U don't worry if it's from the heart it will find an audience...Peacehttp://soundcloud.com/you/tracks * F.E.B. ( funk every body)...http://myfunk.ning.com/profile/SouthBronxDen..plus... .http://www.myspace.com/southbronxden http://www.facebook.com/#!/profile.php?id=1589926248 ,and at http://advanced.aviary.com/dashboard..........

just think that the sound of a track can make alot... and one big point is to try that there are not so many red lights on the mixer, which is mostly the result that people want to have it loud... greets O.

...hey I just opened your last track, there isnt a compressor in,... this green effectmachine with comp on it, you can use it on all of your mahcnies... or maybe just test it with your next track, then its more like a session... do it however you want, I dont want to play you in too much..

I'm fine with covers, I played in a band that played mostly covers for years, but I also feel more attached to tracks when I program the notes myself :) I agree though it is really the only way to learn music, by copying the artists one likes. I might keep it as an example anyway, it does sound cool.

I have to say that just read your profile and we happen to share a lot of musical references and tastes. Jazz is the teacher, Funk is the preacher. I'll be listening to your sounds for sure.

    - i see that you like bass, but it takes room, the beats escape int the backround..try side chain compression for one so the beats have space... and if you give lots of bass at the eq maybe less loud....mostly i dont give bass more then 12 a oclock at the mixer, ....

...hope you are fine with the hints, ....I like your stuff;-)

-compressor...think compression is a good way to make it fed
-when red light on the mixer take the lines a bit back on the left, the right main line mostly can be a little louder cause at the beginning not distorted...

i would have made it better but i don't know how! it's (maybe) in 3/4. the drums are 3/4, the bass is 3/4, but the keys leaked back into 4/4 somehow (i think). i tried to keep a little bit of funk in its soul so i kept it short before i drove any charm out of it dronestyle. :)

hey, thanks for the comment :)

i think 3/4 is actually a really unintuitive signature to write in; if you're still sticky on it, try playing around with 6/8 first - it might give you some hints.

love what you're doing over here, keep it up

on the 3/4 thing. i was having some trouble at one point; then i realized that sixteen or thirty two step patterns won't help. i had to go to 12 or 24 (etc.,) same in the note tracks.
