Software Midi-Keyboard

André Michelle

If you do not have a midi-keyboard you can open a software-keyboard by using the context-menu on a synthesiser. It also records into the timeline when timeline-recording is active.

I'm thinking of getting a midi fighter and i'm planning on using this program, how do I put samples into every button individually?

The only device in AT Studio that accepts user samples and admits MIDI control is the Machiniste drum machine, which can hold up to 9 samples. A MIDI fighter 3D would be enough to trigger all of them. You just have to plug it to your computer and assign it to the device from its context menu (Learn MIDI Keyboard). If you use the TR-808 or TR-909 drum machines, you can trigger up to 12 internal sounds.

when you get the software keyboard up how do you record it on to the timeline, I don't have a midi but I can still play it with my mouse

Just click record (the red dot on the transport) and start playing. You can also play using your computer keyboard. A new note track and note region will be created in the timeline for the synth you're playing. Click the stop button (the square) when you're done.

Just right-click any synthesizer like the Pulverisateur, Heisenberg or Space and choose "Show Software Keyboard" from the context menu. The keyboard will appear on your desktop and you can play away.
