Tone Matrix

olosch

The tone matrix is a 16×16 sequencing grid. The Tone Matrix has its own internal sound but can also be used to sequence other devices. The Tone Matrix has a fixed length of 1/4 of a bar and has a maximum of 7 different programmable internal patterns. The device's internal patterns can be selected by toggling through the pattern bank just above the grid, represented by 7 squares. The clear button allows for the selected pattern to be deleted. The Tone Matrix can be utilised as a simple sequencer by routing a cable from the note output into a device's note input (where possible) If this is done the Tone Matrix can be used to sequence the connected device but no sound will be coming from the Tone Matrix itself.

Right-click the Tonematrix interface and select Create Note Track from the context menu. Double-click the newly created track on the timeline to create a note region, then double-click the region to open it. The piano roll will appear on the left.

Why can't I hear a sound while using it? I'm using an iPad

It would be cool, if you could connect more than one synth to the note output of ToneMatrix.

It would be great, if ToneMatrix would pass Notes from its note region on to note-out.

[I trigger NoteMatrix with a note region, but these notes are not passed to the note output of NoteMatrix. But that would be very useful.]

Is it possible to change the scale of ToneMatrix?

    how to change pitch

Click a different square in the sequencing grid above or below. Pitch changes vertically through a F major pentatonic scale starting at middle C and spanning three octaves vertically.

is there a way to play all of ur patterns because i have to manually change it to hear a different pattern

Yes, right-click anywhere in the Tonematrix device and choose Create Pattern Track from the context menu. Find the pattern track for the Tonematrix down in the timeline and double-click inside to create a pattern region. You can change which pattern the region plays by right-clicking in it and choosing Switch Pattern > (letter). You can create as many patterns as you need and arrange them inside the pattern track in any way you want.

Drag it from the device panel on the right to the desktop area. Connect the audio out to the input of the StereoOutput device or a mixer connected to it, click squares in the central area to activate notes and press play. You should hear it.

Does this app use Adobe Flash? The tone matrix that I access using audiotool/tonematrix uses

Adobe Flash and it is going to be no longer supported by Adobe and web browsers sometime this year. So, again, does the tone matrix app in the Studio use Flash for its video?

What Sounds does it use? And how do I add them

Tonematrix is a very simple synth that generates its own sound. There aren't other choices apart from what you hear. But you could connect its note output to another synth to send its notes to it.
