Old draft. (Yes, I used the hated bird sample). ;) . Maybe a distant time, or maybe closer than we realize. One final transmission before a return to nature.
I do know I like partial compression. I love having my compressor go through Aux and not fully send the signal so that it has part of it compressed and part 'natural'. it's not as clean sounding this way.
I've got an uncle I can hit up for advice LOL. I have no resources but my ears....which are not good at mixing to normal human hearing. As you can tell from my music, I like things to sound somewhat unbalanced.
Thanks people! @arche - Thanks! I think I should probably learn more of the technical side of mixing. I just turn the knobs until I think I like how it sounds. lol. :) Know of any good online resources?
Just thoughts, you're mixes are still awesome and I think you're someone to learn from overall on mixing. Anyway, I'm using my PC speakers, which are actually decent for this one and it works nicely. I'll try my crappy headphones later and let you know LOL
Nice work. I'm no good at eq, but I learned a bit about the value of routing everything through the mixer for volume control/mixing. By turning them all down to about 80%, I have somewhere to go and can either add/subtract at the device (with PeQ) or at the mixer with the on board gain controls & faders. Also don't forget that the Aux can boost the signal too.
another option (which would provide better quality) is to restructure the entire mix i.e. turn all faders down and start from scratch (no red lights!). maybe I will write a guide on how to achieve better mixdowns, I could learn something in the process haha.
you're clipping on the mixer master channel, bring the fader down until the red lights don't show then put a compressor (low amount of compression) between the mixer and the output, turn the limiter off on the master output then slowly bring the compressors gain up until you see the red lights flash occasionally, turn the limiter back on and you should be sorted.
it just makes me wonder if 85% of the people are listening on crap headphones and I made it sound like crap on there, but great on the good ones, then... how should I eq it? ;)
haha. Maybe it's just me. Sometimes, I listen to my tracks so many times whilst making them I'm not sure if I'm hearing things right. I'll actually listen to the tracks on my nice Bose headphones and then I'lll change over to my crap earplug headphones to see if I can tell the difference. The problem is when the track sounds great through the crap headphones and sounds crap through the nice headphones or vice versa.
It sounds like it's mixed alright to me, although sometimes my headphones lie and when i play things on speakers they sound different. It's 4 in the morning though so i won't try.

I end up trying to find a balance so it usually ends up sounding ok on either. It's the trickiest part of this whole music thing hehe.
