I've always wanted to make a real classical piece. Although I've started something for piano, symphonic orchestra and accordion, I've never been too satisfied with it and the sketches sit unfinished and disliked. While I'm better at making smaller forms and shorter compositions, I'd love to bring it either to a sonata, symphony or perhaps concerto as well.
Long story short, I don't really have many good inspirations I can draw from, and therefore I'd like to get to know some good composers and their works. I have a basic understanding of music history and the big names, so I'd honestly like to hear some less well known names.
Anything from any period goes, although I've found it hard to get into impressionists (Debussy's abstraction in symphonic pieces is a little too much for me) baroque and the romantic period has also not entirely blown me away. Would love to be proven wrong tho.
Thanks for the suggestions in advance.

Just for reference - I really like Beethoven's Piano sonata no. 8 (Pathetique) and I'd love to create something like that.
