Ever wonder how certain songs become hits or how they even end up on Billboard top 100? Because I do. What is the Worst pop song?

Barbie Girl by Aqua
literally can't stand it.
Last Christmas
I will kindly disagree.
Talking overplayed Christmas songs Marriah Carey takes the cake.
Well, for me the difference here is not the quality but the quantity. I've hated "Last Christmas" since 1984, and Mariah only since the late '90s.
Fair.
The "remakes" of old dance music songs. I find them disrespectful to history. It's not your song, don't claim it is. And if you're going to do something with the melody, then do something artistically valuable. They just play it in the radios to make money and that's straight up just disrespectful, for those artists who actually pushed electronic music forward. They made 1 step forward for music and you as a big fish are making 3 steps back. One such track that infuriates me to this day are the lame and lazy "remakes" of Eiffel 65's blue. I want to physically punch something every time I hear how they have butchered our boy.
this is layerd with writing mistakes holy shit
I'm guessing you're talking about songs such as "I'm Good Yeah I'm Feeling Alright" (or whatever it's called), the remake of "Blue" by Eiffel 65; "Mother" by Megan Trainor, coming from "Mr Sandman" by The Chordettes; or similar songs. My question would be: Do you also count groundbreaking songs such as "Lonely" by Akon, coming from "Mr Lonely"; or "I Wonder" by Kanye, coming from "My song".
Would you say that sampling older songs is just as disrespectful? Or are you talking about full on remakes?
Just realized you had blue in your original post lmao my bad
Depends. Sampling is not necessarily bad, but tbh if I'm already a fan of a track that gets sampled, I'd be biased. But Kanye and Akon used the sample as a basis and expanded upon the feel of the original, imo. Just depends on how you use it. If you're gonna steal the melody for some super cheesy love song that is very obviously only made to gobble up listens, that is what I have a problem with. If you add and build your original vision around it creatively, for example, reharmonize it somehow or change the feel completely, that is genuine artistry.
All I Want For Christmas Is You
it became so annoying lol
