I feel like I don't do much in the community anymore, so I'm gonna do this as a little way to get back into it. Ask me whatever you all want and I'll do my best to answer them as clearly as possible

How r u?
What is your favorite song?
I'm pretty good
There's just too much music on this rock to pick a favorite
Hey Zerod what was your inspiration for the Remnants OST you made with Kyba? And will you open them for remix? :D
I looked at many scores with electronic elements to see how to properly score scenes for films. This applied to Kyba's film, and I wanted to make sure I got things right. I looked at films and scores from Blade Runner, Oblivion, It Follows, The Amazing Spiderman 2, and even other films that had less electronic elements like Interstellar, Dunkirk, Gladiator, and also The Dark Knight trilogy. I even looked at the Stranger Things score to see what I can do. I practiced all of this even before Kyba asked for help on his project (as you can see in the Heck Yeah series where I tried a few things). Really, I got inspiration from a ton of films and scores to get a basic idea of how to score for electronic music. I just had to find a way to put my sound and style into it, and I feel like I did a decent job at it.
Also: Sure, why not? I can open them for remix sometime later
That's if Kyba agrees
Yeah you both did a fantastic job at it!
Unhid the track that u made congrating ppl for helping u on getting new pc. It was short AF but those sounds I be God damn.
Thank you :)
I may have deleted that
@zerod sad
When will you colab with porter robinson
Our sound styles don't really mix so well imo
Plus, I'm sure Porter would be better off collaborating with somebody else on a track other than me. I'm not that great
You and pendragon should submit some stuff to his label
Or dont and just colab on ambient thing
Eh, not sure about submitting to his label
Tbh I didn't even know he had a label lol
Zerod remember that cat you filmed in an attic or something what happened to it
Maybe it wasnt a cat
What cat and what attic?
If it's on my YouTube channel, it was a cat on top of my old tree house
Yeah thats the one
He's alive
Straight boolin' on that tree house still
I see him there a few times, but I don't own him
Ah
All of the cats in my backyard are strays that come for food or to just have a place to stay
Since the people want melodic dubstep, (your most faved song stuff) why isnt there more
Because I don't like it. I hate my melodic dubstep work, and it never made me happy
The reason I started making music was because I wanted to show my emotion and share my thoughts. I was never able to do that until I tried ambient
I could never do emotional shit with melodic dubstep. A growl bass doesn't show my anger at myself
I stopped because I wanted to make what I wanted to truly make, not what my "fanbase" wants (idk what else to call it)
Do you have any alt accounts?
You can either choose to accept my choice in music and follow me in my little adventure, or you can leave. It's up to you.
I appreciate the loyal peeps
I do not have alts
Everything I do from here on is told through Zerod
Which ambient artists inspire you?
I don't know any ambient artists
Same, after I asked I reallized I couldnt think of any
I don't even listen to ambient honestly
I feel that if I really start getting into the genre and artists, I'll start to rip off
Any artists on AT who you recommend?
That makes sense
Zerod
Never heard of him
New question: how did you find AT?
I wanted to start learning how music worked and how it was made. I found out that the easiest way for me was to use a DAW, but they all costed a dickton of money. I searched up free DAWs and I found Audiotool; I decided to try it out. I found it too confusing and too complex, so I went to find other free DAWS. I would come back to Audiotool 2 days later because all the other free DAWs were shit compared to Audiotool. This is as close to a DAW as it gets for free
What genre did you start out trying to make? Or were you just putting ideas into the app
I had no clue where to start at first. I heard a drum and bass song and jokingly put samples into the app. I made my first shit track "DnB." I was aware of how naive and new I was to this, and I knew it would take time to fully learn. I put no effort into my early work because I knew it was not what I wanted to make, but I knew doing it so many times would make me learn new things and get me closer to reaching the spot I wanted to be at
So, I learned the basics through house and dubstep. I put no effort or real shit into them
What were your early influences in terms of music. Did you play any instruments, have any family in bands, or sing?
I just didn't care
None of my family was in music. None of them played instruments, and neither did I. None of them sang or even danced, but my grandpa had a lot of old vinyls and cassets. I would study music to myself, and I found it really cool how it was so simple to tell a story and put emotion into something that lasted a couple minutes. That made me want to try it out
is there anything you want the team of developers to add to next?
I want them to add a Nide button that, when you click on it, plays the Zer Talks guitar loop
Whats your biggest fear regarding your music
My biggest fear is that my music will never actually have some sort of worth, that it means nothing to anyone and doesn't make them feel how I feel when I made it. I'm afraid that my music will eventually just be seen as nothing but just a boring old track that someone wished was good. I'm just afraid that I won't be remembered in my music, that my stories and thoughts will just fly past everyone and become nothing but just lost harmonic waves in the air that wanted to be something
do you feel like you've left an impact of the community here?
lol fuck no
Where does the name zerod come from
My URL
It also was a character I had
Have you shown your family your music? If so, what do they think
He was an alien that wanted to help Earth. Him and his kind lived amongst them as guardians
Humans killed them all off
But he risked his life to save them from some great force
It's too long of a story, but he was eventually forgotten
I never show my family my music because they're against it
What do you think of vulkron and his music
How so?
Vulkron's good at being generic, and I'm glad he's succeeding at it
Also they just expected me to have a "real job" like a doctor or some shit
Do any artists inspire you particularly?
Nobody in particular, honestly
Virtual Riot inspired me to stop making melodic dubstep
What efforts have you made to promote your music outside of this website
Do you have a soundcloud?
I haven't actually done that. I don't like myself enough to spread out. I'm terrible at finding places too
And yes, I have a SoundCloud
Where do you see yourself musically in 5 years?
Hopefully making what I want and being at the skill level my standards I have right now are at
I also see myself finally finishing a full track for fucking once lol
Last but not least, do you ever plan on leaving AT?
I'll never actually leave Audiotool. This is where I started, and I will not be able to let that kind of thing just go
Of course, I might not make music as much as I used to, but this place will ALWAYS be a part of me
Thanks for your time Zerod. Goodluck on finding yourself in your music. The kyba colab left us all wanting more and your ambient and cinematic songs are your best work. Hope to hear more. And maybe a full song everynow and again.
Thank you as well. Hopefully, I'll be able to find a new thing to score and put something out on
And I'm glad you think my ambient and cinematic tracks are my best work :)
