This is a small usability request. Since the software keyboard is an item that can be active (shown) or inactive (hidden), change the behaviour of the "Show Software Keyboard" menu item so that when the keyboard is shown, a check mark appears before the menu item's text. Closing the keyboard or selecting the menu item a second time would hide the keyboard and remove the check mark. Sort of how the "Mute" menu item in a region's context menu (or any other menu item that toggles something between two states) works.
