Almost all of us could agree that Audiotool could use a new and improved Studio layout.
I’m not saying it’s confusing on its own — but it definitely feels too packed. I'm not saying remove features — i'm saying you should break it down. And speaking of confusion, I’ve noticed that for new users (mostly my friends), the studio can be overwhelming. Many people freak out and leave before they even get a track started.
One way to fix this would be to add guided arrows or tips when someone first logs in. I know there’s a “Tip of the Day,” but honestly, those tips are often unclear. A step-by-step visual walkthrough would help way more.
Yes, there’s a manual — but most of the time it just explains what each tool does, not how to actually use them together to make music.
One more thing: I’ve heard that the Booster doesn’t work well for Linux users — especially people using Chromebooks. I haven’t fully confirmed this, but whenever I download the Booster on my Chromebook and try to launch it, I get an error that says “failed to retrieve app data.”
I’m not sure if the problem is the Booster or if my school blocks Linux, but either way, this could be a major issue. A lot of students use Audiotool on school Chromebooks, and they can’t access key features because of this.
If I’m wrong about any of this, feel free to fact-check me.
Thanks!

(P.S, I spent a whole hour just writing this, and improvising it lol. and I had Chatgpt fact check it and re-write it, but it kept mostly all I wrote first)

I think that there should be a better tutorial, too. I don't like having my hand held, but I believe there should be a better, more interactive way of showing people how to use it. So I kinda agree but I've gotten used to the layout now, and maybe there could be a decorative change, but that's really it.
@moderator
if you look through the board, it has been mentioned a few times that an update is right around the corner xd
I think this is a perfectly good reason to create your own video tutorial content and put that on the internet so that everyone can benefit from what you would believe the best way to guide someone through this DAW is. Of course, it would be nice if Audiotool did and explained everything for you like Ableton does, but they're a small team... I think it would be much more beneficial to the community as a whole to create that which you feel is lacking.
Otherwise, wait for the updates, or use a different software. Although I can say from experience, most other softwares aren't as boiled down and simple to understand it's functions as AT has managed to create. There is a tutorials page that tells you how to use each instrument, but I definitely think the tutorials could be more in-depth, and I've always wanted to try to make my own but I never got around to doing it.
I just ended up going on YouTube and finding out ways to do the same things on other softwares and then translated that to AT. I definitely think it takes longer especially when you don't understand how everything works.
Or if you really want to do long-term permanent change, you can choose a career path that aligns with something that would allow audiotool to hire you to do all these things you think could make it better! :) if you created community content now, that would go a long way to building a portfolio to getting hired in the future
Great points, love the convo, thanks for sharing 🫶
we need a visual update, a ux update, tutorial update and we even need new instruments. but its long overdue. the hay day of audiotool was 2013. now everyone sane makes music with ai. legit you needed chat gpt just to write a paragraph. we are doomed but we are.
yeah, just so yall know something is coming very soon, patience is key for now
Hey maybe you can both make it together
What's the point of creativity if we're just gonna make AI do it? What's the point of having hobbies if we're just gonna pass it off for AI? "now everyone sane makes music with ai" is incorrect. "now everyone makes music with ai" without the "sane" is more correct. No sane person makes an AI do their own hobbies for them. That's dehumanization of self to turn everything in your life into a set of parameters read and acted on by an incredibly imperfect failed overly complex computer program. We're making AI do the living for us. They live, we sleep. And we're the only reason that's becoming a reality.
The reason I had to use AI is because I had to have it fact checked before I posted it and it kept most of the paragraphs but it rewrote some of them
If AI rewrites some of them, then check them, because AI sucks at writing stuff. Plus, there are AI detectors that identify whether you used AI or not for something. There's something about AI that makes its stuff distinguishable from human-made content to some extent.
I agree this would be very helpful, especially for new users
that's uh.... that's 8 paragraphs yo
most of the official YouTube tutorials are from 10+ years ago too, so some things have changed.
A step by step visual guide instead of 'the tip of the day' would be so much easier to understand than a couple of instructions
