I would personally suggest that just having the old feature for recording straight from the microphone, sans sample uploading, would be enough to effectively implement vocals into Audiotool. Imo, the only way that someone is going to be able to get a usable sample from the microphone is someone who has enough effective production knowledge that they wouldn't even opt for Audiotool in the first place. Sure, someone can just play something off their phone or another device into the microphone, but they would have to have a more than good quality microphone and sound-proofing in order to really capture something that could actually work in a clean mix. As well, allowing microphone recording doesn't mean being able to share that online, it could just be limited to being available in someone's draft or personal saves for samples and presets.
On that note, I would also advocate for having a way to listen to the mix when doing vocals. I have tried a couple times to record vocals using just the metronome but I can tell you that there's a lot more nuance in how a mixed beat affects your vocals than the click of a metronome.
