ok, so I have a draft that i've been working on and I wanted to know if anybody had any tips on how to properly master it? I have a compression chain set up, however im losing alot of low range frequencies to the midrange. My headphones are especially bassy so its very apparent, thank you <33

Control the individual synths and sounds. Don't just add things to the master output. If you mix each sound properly l, then there's hardly any need for mastering.
Belongs to mastering.
add one or two EQ's just before your master output. Add some mids there, add about 1dB to the bass and boost the highs. Keep the compression down a bit, lower the ratio until you get a full range or frequencies.
I don't know if this is your problem, but I usually place EQ before compression. EQ will boost or cut some frequency ranges, depending on the tone you want to give to your mix and therefore affecting overall loudness, which your compressor should react to. You can temporarily deactivate your compressor and fix any EQ problems before you try to find the best settings for your compressor.
explain a bit more like dumb it down hahaha
Easy for you to say.
How come ?
this is what i'd imagine the problem was
vvv how about learning the vocabulary
"1. You'll never get a good master using headphones."
Why not?
Sometimes people are so concerned with the " mastering " and " mixing " that they absolutely forget about
" leveling "
:)
"5. Will anybody ever read this?"
I would have guessed "no" since this thread is over a year old but I've been proven wrong :)
Forgot I even made this post.
Lol I don't just add things to the master
"a final LIMITER that will raise the listening volume immensely." So limiting the audio output will raise the volume. Seems legit.
@praabz lol
