Music not loud enough

Every time I make a track I feel like it's too low (as in volume) and if I try to make it louder it clips and distorts. Can anyone give me tips so I can crank that shit up (in a reasonable and not clipping manner))

  • Still wondering this lol

  • FIRST: I recommend you check your StereoOutput, usually the default is -3db, turn it all the way up. SECOND: I suggest you add an exciter and a stereo enhancer to your mix... attach each device from StereoOutput to Centroid, or Centroid to Instrument, or whatever your samples are hubbed. For the Exciter, increase the TONE nob to the IN (left) to how you want. If you go too far it may sound very... OVERDRIVE, I recommend 300%. For the POWER nob turn it right, too much right make your head shake. For the stereo enhancer, increase tone nob to the left again and increase the nob to stereo. This will make a sound like the music is around you, and not just infront of you. THIRD: Eq it. Sometimes, eqing can get rid of annoyances and perhaps highlight certain aspects you desire on your track. I use the graphical EQ for my basses and kicks, for the low ends and to get rid of any annoying high ends. FINALLY: mess with the effects. TUBE tends to make it sound very loud. Reverb for me makes it sound lowder for some reason. And a compressor can make it sound, more present in a track, whatever that may be. NOTE: I don't know if this is true, but I have found the quality in the sound out of audio tool is very limiting. I have found the it will never really pop, and won't really come out as clean and rich as a track says from Ableton. I have Ableton, well, I have the lite version cause... afford. Just, mix around and adjust settings as you go. Sometimes it will land as a good sound, sometimes it will flop. Mostly, though audiotool sounds the best when it is uploaded to audiotool. If you upload anywhere else, especially with a mp3, you will loose data and it will sound, iffy. That's it. See ya....

  • Have you read the other posts in this board? They pose the exact same question and have lots of useful information.

  • Idk, mix stuff. Use compressors. That's all I can think of.

    • Well, compressors can be used for sidechain and stuff for pumping. IT can also make other sounds in your track louder by quieting the sound it's connected too. Could be useful when you want to raise the volume of the track and stop a synth from clipping. But mixing the freq is probably the most important thing. So sounds don't conflict with each other and each sound is clear and all. A bad mix can cause the track to sound muddy and quiet. I really don't know much about the compressor though cause all I use it for is sidechaining my bass and chords and stuff.

THE MANUAL FOR THE COMPRESSOR ON HERE EXPLAINS SHIT BETTER THAN I DO. LOOK AT IT.

    • What are they for?

  • lol

  • Same here!
