Got a sample of a clap snare from a Memphis style preset, and randomly it wouldn't let me place the sample inbetween each 4 bar white line, only at the start of the new line in the timeline, then I got a kick drum preset and went to edit the sequence, but once I clicked a note the note took over the whole sequence, and I couldn't shorten it. How do I fix this? Already googled it and it didn't help.

I think you have grid snapping set to a large number. On the top left of the timeline, you will see 1/4, 1/8, Bar, etc; depending on what it's set to. You can click that, and set it to Smart or to any other sizing smaller than ''Bar' (1/16 is probably good for your use-case), and that should resolve your issue!
