Recording Set-ups

Hey there! I would like to know what recording set-ups y'all use. I would really want to incorporate acoustic, real instruments in my songs, but I feel that I don't have the necessary microphones, cables, amps, etc.

Thanks!

i started with a TASCAM 144 MK II (about $100) interface but when i needed more simultaneous inputs i got a focusrite 18i20 (about $500). Once you have an interface you can record any instrument or mic with a sound signal over 1/4 inch cables or XLR cables. A pair of ancient (highly durable) AKG D770 mics satisfy my needs for recording truly acoustic instruments. i started with a free software called "Audacity", and graduated to the extremely powerful free-to-try "Reaper" (I've since purchased a home license for about $50). Good luck seyasoya. If you have any other or more specific questions, i can try to answer.
