Synthesis and effect processing (what you're calling sound design) is a vast subject; you'll need to be way more specific as to what you're looking to learn.

Find a sound you want to learn how to make in someone else's music, then post a link here to that sound clip. Someone will be able to point you in the right direction and from there you start to build an understanding of how the synth works and begin forging your own sounds.
