Six categories to build in
Pick a track that fits your craft. Submit to one — or build something for each. $1,000 in Stripe credits per winning team plus partner perks in every category.
When you submit your app, our panel of judges evaluates which categories it fits and tags it accordingly. A single project can qualify and win in multiple categories — so if your app spans sound design and music games, it could place in both.
Songstarter
Build tools that help musicians start creating. AI-powered prompt generators, mood-based beat starters, chord progression explorers, lyric idea engines — anything that helps someone go from blank page to first idea faster. If it sparks a creative starting point, it belongs here.
Composition
Build tools that support the compositional process. Harmony assistants, melody generators, arrangement helpers, counterpoint tools, music-theory educators, AI co-writers. The goal is tools that understand musical structure and help creators make more intentional decisions — develop craft, not just generate output.
Sound Design
Build new instruments, synthesisers, effects processors, or sound shapers that connect directly into an Audiotool session. Custom oscillators, granular tools, generative soundscapes, noise design utilities. If it shapes, creates, or transforms sound at the signal level, this is your category.
Music Games
Build interactive music experiences where sound responds to action. Rhythm games, generative live performance tools, audience participation apps, music visualisers, multiplayer jam experiences. If playing it feels as good as listening to it, it belongs here.
Connect
Build tools that extend Audiotool by connecting it to other platforms, hardware, or workflows. MIDI controllers, DAW bridges, notation tools, real-time collaboration layers, hardware interfaces. If it makes Audiotool talk to something it couldn't before, this is your challenge.
Marketing & Distribution
Build tools that help artists get their music heard and monetised. Playlist pitching tools, release planners, royalty trackers, fan engagement apps, social content generators, distribution helpers. If it helps a musician go from finished track to found audience, it belongs here.
