Starting a new genre would be a big move for Audiotool, and a fresh start for the community. Giving them more options for making music, and more opportunity for success on the charts.

definitely. maybe adding some sort of rule set would help, but take in mind that they have a new studio in the process rn, I think? I don't know what they are doing, but if it has some new synthesizer or bass, starting a genre of music will not be as hard then. but I don't know much about this site. I think though that diversity is important to keep this website alive, as dying as it is at the moment.
the core concept behind this is limitations spawning new creative ways to achieve things
id argue that the machiniste is the sole reason my AT music sounds the way it does. its an incredibly limited sampler but forced me to sample in a way i would never have done in any other software
I've already heard a handful of jaw-dropping eccentric hidden gems from this site, stuff that I'd almost never hear elsewhere, particularly from tracks/artists with the "experimental" tag. I think encouraging experimental artists to collaborate more might make for something interesting and would be a good step forward.
yeah definitely, with musicians like trillionMPH, or Client, or even the niche artists that don't get up on the charts often. that experimental feel, I get it. I think a good step could come from the bass music genre though too. like Onyx and Rdz with um..

its a pretty interesting one.
we need more scenes on audiotool that are active. people doing similar things need to group up and flesh themselves out as cliques with signature sounds. at a certain point of evolving what that sound is it organically creates microgenre
either that or we need new trailblazers. lots of people emulating one artist inevitably creates genre (dariacore and pc music are the first examples that come to mind)
yeah, I think that a big one too at a certain time was birdcore, but if we tried to do that again, we would have another trash post genre. so I think we need to make a genre that has great sound and taste, but is somewhat easier to make for the people just starting on the platform.
I think attempting to start a new genre is a great idea. Genres as we know are defined by a lot different things like instruments, to rhythm, lyrical content, or even the region that it originated from. Already its starting from AT so thats the first defining factor. I think though creating a genre is hard without creating a fusion of other already defined genres. Maybe we could start with a fusion of some sort?
That would be pretty sick actually. Ill have to think on it for a little. I think one defining thing should be kind of like what MJ use to tell quincy jones and others, and that was to use a new sound that hasnt ever been used before. they used to go around with a tape recorder, and like get the buzzing sound of some giant generator or like the screeching of the subway or something, and then they would use equipment to make it sound musical somehow. I think that would make it more interesting to listen because you want to hear what new sound someone found. just a thought.
but a good idea could be something along the lines of a experimental funk, like bass music, and funk. that could be kind of cool. or another great genre could be Country. that could hit pretty good
jungle, darkcore/darkside, rave, drill and bass, hardstyle, and intelligent are a couple off the top of my head : )
