I just thought it was strange that some of the followers i've been getting recently were accounts that were made days ago. Im not assuming it's a bad thing just yet, but I just wanted to say its a lil weird to me.
maybe audiotool is starting to grow in popularity

OOOH I SEE NOW
Thanks andre I was honestly suspicious at first, but now that you've explained all this, I understand :)
woah im flattered :o
That's a great idea!
just got word on this update and it's actually real neat
ohh
that makes sense
this is a really cool update!
oh yeah that would explain a lot
this happened to me too
There are some aspects of this update that I don't actually like (at least in comparison to its implementation on other social media platforms, but that's a topic for a feature request). Despite this, however, the results are significant
love this idea
this explains a lot, and is pretty cool
i was confused for the longest. thanks.
Very glad I found some clarification on this. Excited to see what happens!
I was confused too, but I like the idea!!
Hope for everyone's sake that they get distributed evenly :)
ahh
and here i was thinking that people were starting to like my shit XD
thx for clearing this up, guys
haha
OOF
one of the new accounts lol
cool af
Baby account here... I like this place so far.... I've been on Soundation for 4 years. https://soundation.com/user/ozd I wonder what tracks I could create here.
OHH OK. this is an awesome idea. <3
@andremichelle Okay, so I've noticed that the implementation of this is very strange.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems that new accounts should follow a set number of users (especially since the suggest-followees page locks at a selection of 3 genres, no more or less). I've noticed currently:
Also, in using accounts where I actively want to follow any number <5 users
Dude, how have you survived for so long on soundation? I can't stand that workspace not having an adjustable grid on the timeline.
At the same time, welcome to audiotool! I really hope you feel comfortable here and that you can get familiar with the application.
Even as someone who uses Pro tools and Ableton, I still come back to audiotool all the time. Feel free to ask me any questions or check out the boards for any help you need!
That's really clever, actually. I like the idea of using the community aspects first to get people plugged into audiotool. The only downside is a few ghost followers that might over-inflate what audience you think you have, but if it means we can better connect with new users to help raise audiotool's user base, then I'm all for it.
That's fair and all, but in some cases, I noticed that on my other account that only follows two people, audiotool may periodically follow other users on my behalf.
Although, this may have been a bug that's since been fixed (I don't notice it as often as before, but then again, I haven't been as active as I had been either)
Also, I think it's important to equally distribute follows so there is no skew towards more popular artists (making more popular artists more popular and less popular ones less so)
I think this could be an incredible tool to not only help new users find great artists, but also sprinkle some lesser known ones in there too.
distribution of followers is being watched over. I think the focus is more on keeping newer users engaged, but Andre did say "We are trying to distribute them fairly."
He's a man of his word, I'm sure the devs are looking out for smaller artists, too. I remember them commenting on my stuff from 7 years ago when I was a nobody and giving me advice back in audiotool's first big blow-up. They care a lot.
shit... wish i had that problem. been here 8 years or so and have never had an "influx of followers" of any kind. haha
