How does your location influence your musical creativity?

For me, I like to be near sunlight, or in some kind of room with lighting and in an upright sitting position. I don't like to be holed up in my room with the blinds closed and me lounging on my bed looking at the screen, it hinders my thought process when i'm trying to make something. I remember before COVID-19 hit, I used to make like 75% of all my music at a library because the conditions were absolutely perfect there, but now I just make music at home near a window.

I'm actually the complete opposite. I always work on drafts at night or when it's getting dark, with the window open to let cool air in, but the drapes closed. Every song for me is like getting into differing mindsets and reflecting on differing traumas, so being in the dark helps me get into that depressive mood I need to vent through music. Probably slowly killing me but it produces music I'm proud of so it's chill lol

I’ve always produced in my room with the blinds closed. I’ve never actually tried the opening the blinds and let in some light idea, I should.

location doesn't necessarily affect my creativity. usually when i'm busy working on a track, i get very fixated on whatever it is i'm working on. usually when this is happening, i don't really get distracted by anything else. although, the one consistent condition i have worked in since i started making music is that i always work alone, in a room by myself. i don't know why, but i can't really work with anyone else around. otherwise, i guess i could work anywhere, but i always just produce in my room.

It influences it a lot ! I almost always start my tracks on a sunny day, and finish/polish them in the dark or during a rainy day. That's also why 75% of my tracks are published between April and September haha
I also only produce in an upright sitting position, i can't do anything not at my desk (well i have a desktop and not a laptop PC, so...)

I produce next to the washing machine going and with the neighbour's dog barking all day. No windows and monitors in a corner, so it's standing wave fest. I have to stand because my chair is so junk that my feet get swollen if I sit too long. Sometimes I listen through earbuds on the desk. I can't hear anything above 14-15 kHz anyway. But I embrace the limitations because if I manage to make the track sound good here, it will sound good anywhere.

I produce music in my parents basement, where it's always a fresh 65 degrees Farenheit. I tend to make music from evenings until late nights, when everybody in the house besides me has gone to bed. I'm a massive introvert with anxiety and love setting aside some personal alone time each day. Lately I've been working on limiting how late I stay up, since not getting enough sleep negatively affects my productivity the next day.

I alternate between a pair of Grado SR80e's and a $25 pair of Sony earbuds. I EQ them both, mainly to get rid of loud resonances. The Grado's are more precise in the mids and treble, but have a sharp rolloff around 60 Hz. I can hear sub bass frequencies more comfortably on my earbuds, at the expense of less impresssive highs.

For me, music is self-therapeutic. If I'm having a rough day, I sit down for a few hours and jam out on AT. Making music takes my mind off of whatever negative thought is weighing me down at that moment. I feel even better whenever I'm able to finish a song. Listening to a song that I made and feeling satisfied about the end result makes me feel good about myself. I am constantly watching mixing tutorials and listening to a lot of well produced trance tracks. My dream job would be to be a music producer full time, but it feels like a far away fantasy at times.

I'm sorry if I rambled a bit. This site has helped save my life and I'm very greatful <3

I dunno. I could make an argument of how a sizable portion of my music is ice themed because of the fact that I crave the cool feeling of a winter breeze during the hot summers in my city, and that without it I become a furnace beyond the capabilities of any oven to ever exist. Or how nighttime city snowfall is one of the most relaxing things to me and I want to capture the feeling it gives me through my ambient music.

However, the reality is that location just doesn't influence it. That idea is just cool sounding. (hehehe)

I was most creative living in my uni house last year. I'd cook myself something after getting back from the gym, turn on some warm lighting in my room, grab a beer and then bounce around in my big IKEA chair eating food until I had something cool. Then I'd connect my bluetooth speaker to my laptop and have a bath or shower whilst listening out for bits I could develop in the draft.

Miss that a lot, but anywhere with nice lighting where I can put my books, plant, and albums will do me nicely (plant makes all the difference).
