Empty Timeline Challenge | Winners

That was an amazing round, wow!

The selection was far from easy, as the series of submissions once again demonstrated your incredible potential. It's amazing what you all have achieved once again.

Making a track without a timeline is not easy, we knew that. Make a loop that is not recognizable as such and shouldn't get boring. Okay ... rai. really thought of something here. But what the three winners have done is completely different. Entire tracks with verses and choruses and even a clean fadeout. Damn!

Our utmost respect goes to all three of you, hats off.

Jury member and challenge creator rai. said about the results of this challenge:

“Incredible entries all around. I loved seeing all the creative and new techniques introduced in this challenge. I learned so much!”

Let's start with the winner:

#1 No timeline by Amp7070

Academy Award winning engineer/producer Daniel Rowland wrote about this track:

“This is super impressive. The creative routing (those delays!!) and the song itself—how loose but musical everything is. Tops.”

Prize: 1 Sennheiser headphones HD 280 PRO and 1 limited Edition Audiotool T-Shirt

#2 the land before timelines by naswalt

Audiotool legend and producer of many milestones Frigolito wrote:

“Despite the strict limitations, Naswalt has created a track featuring a rich atmosphere of sounds with a decent amount of variation.”

Prize: 1 limited Edition Audiotool T-Shirt

#3 Mantra lines by Mircode

Multi-platinum producer and Audiotool co founder Daniel Rowland again:

“Love the atmosphere here. How the vocals blend, and the reverse fx. And those delays! Bjork and Stockhausen would be proud.”

Prize: 1 limited Edition Audiotool T-Shirt

Please send your t-shirt sizes and shipping addresses to team[@]audiotool.com

  • congrats to all who participated, and hats off to the winners!

  • Wow, surprised kepz didn't win this one. Creating structure using delays was interesting but i feel like that's not what the challenge was about. But eh. Good job everyone

    • Ah, i misread twice it seems. You don't get a place AT ALL. I thought you were just saying you don't get an advantage. Kind of weird how you guys don't get a place.

    • I’d really like to reach this state of mind where I can be surprised by something that I know 😉

    • I know, i just really enjoy your entries!

  • This was truly an exceptionally challenging challenge that really put your problem solving skills to test, and it was very interesting to compare all the different ways being used to overcome the lack of timeline privileges, including the 30 BPM trick, the delay pedal buffer hack, the gate carrier "zombies" and different feedback network strategies. Thanks @rai. for this creativity booster and congratulations to all the contestants for the overall high quality output despite the highly crippling limitations!

  • Thank you, wow wow wow

  • womp womp!

    • You're most welcome! Enjoy your well deserved victory! Congratulations! :)
