Is there an easy way to implement swing on a track?

I want to add some swing to my drums. But, I can't seem to figure out how to do that via Audiotool. Is there an easy way to do this? Or do I have to record it in, because I am not the most musically talented?

  • yes there is! though it tends to go by the more general terms “groove” or “shuffle”. if you’re working on the desktop, like with a machiniste or drum machine, there should be a setting near the subdivision option called “shuffle”. this adds a swing to that device, specifically the global shuffle which is controlled by the percentage near the play/pause buttons at the top. i believe the default is 60%.

if you are working in the timeline with a notetrack, the gear icon to the left of the notetrack will let you toggle the shuffle for that track. if it’s on, it turns blue, otherwise it remains grey. by default the only option should be “global shuffle” which is the same as the global shuffle mentioned above.

if you want more control over the shuffle or varying degrees of swing for different tracks, you can create a new “groove” in the grooves tab of the right-side menu. there are tons of options here, not all of which i understand, so please experiment for yourself and let me know what you discover! to assign a note track to a newly created groove, it’s the same process as assigning it the global shuffle, but once new grooves are created they should be listed after the global shuffle.

i hope this is helpful! ill add screenshots once im on my laptop. happy music-ing!

    • Thank you so much! This is great info. I will definitely experiment with newest release. But, that's neither here nor there. Thank you!
