Creating a violin sound

Hello,

I wanted to add a few violin sounds to a track that I am making but it all still sounds like a keyboard. Is there anyway to get an authentic violin sound in Audiotool?

Thanks!

  • Here's the thing. If you want a REALLY authentic violin sound you need to use samples. If you are using violins sounds as background or a supporting sound rather than a lead or solo, then you can make use with a good enough sound that can be made in the pulv. To make one, you just need to use a normal string patch. That can be made by getting a sawtooth wave and adding some vibrato with an LFO. To make it sound wider detune it a bit by setting the other 2 oscillators to sawtooth and changing their pitch by a few cents. The envelope and filter depends on the type of violin sound you want to make. If it's a pad then you want a envelope that opens up slowly or if it's a lead a more stabby one, but it must have an attack value. Then get shit ton's of reverb and maybe chorus. Make sure to use notes that are high in pitch. But the beauty of this type of string patch is that you can manipulate it to fit what ever sound you want to make. For a string orchestra is a pad and more mid in frequency. If you go lower you can get a cello like sound. Happy synthesizing.

  • put super strong reverb and a chorus on a vibrato saw wave and you'll get something quite convincingly violin-sounding
