Hidden Heisenberg Feature?

So, I was today years old when I was playing with the Heisenberg and miss clicked and clicked on the "semitone" text icon. It switched over to a new panel called "ration" that I have never seen before. It seemed like it was changing the octaves of the oscillators, but just in case, I wanted to know if you knew about this and what it is meant to do.

i might look at the manual to see if missed anything

Update: I found it briefly explained in the manual, guess i didn't really notice it earlier. still gonna keep this open if someone wants to tell me cool sound design tricks to do with this.

  • Ratio and pitch have a relationship.

Pitch (semitones) is calculated using equal temperament tuning.

Ratio follows a more natural tuning system.

As an example, a ratio of 2 is double the frequency of the fundamental/root.

This is equal to moving up one octave.

A ratio of four is double this again.

A ratio of eight is double that.

Where it gets interesting is between those ratios.

A ratio of 3 is 2.5 times the root, or one an a half octaves...except when you switch back to semitone mode you'll see it isn't exactly 19semitones higher.

This continues for all of the other harmonics between octaves.

I work using ratios a lot as I personally prefer the sound.

The principle is same, the maths is slightly different so the result differs.
