Sidechain compression goes a long way, especially for this kind of music. Open one of my songs and look at my compressor setup so you can figure it out/tinker, i don't mind.
Welcome to AT! I think the biggest improvement you could make with this would be to just take some time to further develop the sound design for each instrument and the "environment" they exist in. Try using multiple synths chained together if you need more oscillators, play around with the band splitter and try processing different parts of a sound with different fx. etc... for me, the magic of minimal & big-room stuff is often in the little details that you don't even pick up on consciously.
One thing I think I’d recommend is layering sounds for the drop and sound design. The drop here was kinda a letdown. I think a lead or chord stack might help with the impact. I can’t really comment too much on the mixing and mastering because I am currently using my monitor’s speakers from my studio setup and I don’t have my headphones.
yeah, I was getting a lot of clipping too, it felt too quiet also, so I chose clipping over quiet. I think I killed the drums in doing so. so I'll work on that as well.
thanks, I only follow people whom I think have the most talent on the site, don't take it personally. I think you make great music, but you have to really impress me to take one of the 5 followers.
