determined design

Total playing time: 0:39:25

A technical concept to prove that genres like metal can be made in audiotool. The goal was to do as much as possible with only the tools provided in studio. I used cheap guitars, no amp simulators and used all audiotool equipment for fx (no pedals or expensive equipment to help with tone!). I enjoyed what initially felt like a limitation presented by the audiotool studio, though it has quickly become my default work flow for making rock style music. I'll admit to multitrack recording in Adobe Audition CC so that my assets wouldn't be absolutely ridiculous, but besides that I want this project to tell you that you can make any kind of music that you want to right here! Every track is remixable, so consider this an "open source" album of sorts ;)

  • I've been very ignorant towards this. Now I think it's become a source I'd like to imitate. It's the missing link between the heavier metal I listen to and the more melodic side of Deftones for me. This project is huge. Your choruses leave nothing out to be desired: catchy, melodic and unique. There's so much going on melodically and harmonically and the space is filled in such a satisfying way. Congrats, you killed it.

  • You're a maestro in sound design and mixing, and you're also a role model here on AT. My third place in the summer games is all thanks to you. No kiss ass
