DubLion

Thomas Waller

DubLion began his Audiotool career when he was about twelve years old; at that time he tried his hand - sometimes more, sometimes less successfully – at crunchy Dubstep and Drum and Bass. Four years and some hours of practice later he produces optimally mixed Drum and Bass. Here his particularly strong point is the unintrusive instrumentation, so that despite driving beats we can be sure of a goodly portion of „chill". Yet another Audiotool youngster we should definitely keep an eye on.

Interview

Thomas Waller Place: Oxfordshire, England Age: 15 and 8 months School/Job: I am currently in year 11 which is the last year of secondary school in the UK. I will hopefully start College this September and I will be doing a course called Music technology.

Musical Style
My style is very chilled Drum & Bass. I make chilled Garage songs when I am in the mood.
Musical Background
I started getting the vibe for Drum and Bass when I was around 11 years old. I started listening to lots of Drum and Bass artists on YouTube at that time. I've always been listening to YouTube channels such as UKF, Hospital Records, Liquicity and MED School Records for inspiration. I started building a collection of Drum and Bass cds when I was 13 years old and it's become quite a large hobby since. I have never learnt to play instruments but was interested in guitar from around the ages of 7 to 9 years old.
Making music/Starting Audiotool
At the end of 2012 I wanted to begin making my own music. At the time I wanted a free music DAW to start me off and build on my skills of music production. It took me almost 2 years to find my style of Drum and Bass that just clicked with me. Ever since I have been pushing myself to create more sophisticated Drum and Bass. My friend started around the same time as me. One of them was FlexScape. He gave up making music because he didn't give the time and effort to it and he didn't believe in himself, that he could get any better.
Message to the community
Just keep pushing your boundaries and find the music that connects with you. Use the artists that inspire you to create your own style of music which is also similar to theirs at the same time. With Audiotool you have to take your time and experiment with different things. What works and what doesn't work. If you think your music sounds good you have to work until its 110 percent perfection. Control each element in your song to the way you want it to sound. My 2016 coming album will be a good example of that so watch out. :)
