Tornsage

John Ertsgard

To call Tornsage an Audiotool legend is really not exaggerating: every one of his tracks raises the standard in the Ambient field a notch higher, showing us again and again how much magically destroyed atmosphere can be conjured out of old familiar piano samples. Beside his enormous talent he is remarkable for his friendly presence in the community: he gives new arrivals a warm welcome and makes them feel at home in Audiotool. Check out the man with the rabbit head!

Interview

John Ertsgard Place: I was born in SanJose California but moved east as a teen to Massachusetts where I have lived all my life since. Age: I have been around the sun 55 times but feel like I just got started. Profession: I am an Electronics Engineer and currently work at Bose Corporation in the division creating automotive sound system designs.

Musical Background
After I finished my stint in the USMC, I started a band with some fellow musicians named "Johnny Nervous and the Shapeless Pygmies" (rhythm guitar/vocals) playing covers and originals in local clubs. Following that I jammed extensively with my son Nick (drummer, keyboardist) and now I work on my piano and audiotool exclusively.
Started making music
I started playing guitar as a kid and sang songs like "Yellow Submarine" in a 5th grade band early on.
On Audiotool
At the time I was jamming regularly with my son he turned me on to the audiotool DAW. After some time and a couple first tries I was absolutely hooked and have not looked back since. The site replaced oodles of equipment that I had lost, given away or thrown out over the years thus presenting an amazing opportunity to rejoin an earlier effort to create music without having to compromise.
Message to the community
My message is thank you. Thank you all for being so kind, helpful and inspiring over the years. Thank you for the vast array of music and for opening my eyes to new genres that I had never considered. The community at Audiotool is diverse and talented and I will always be grateful to have such an amazing place to work on music and share ideas with others as well as a gifted group of SW professionals who designed and run the site. I truly think that Audiotool is set for greatness and will heartily compete with alternate DAWs in the future.
