Untrust 三

Aron / Aaron / Nicklas / Liam

What better time could there be than Christmas to celebrate an international group of musicians and their ability to cross borders to create something special together. With their fifteen tracks Untrust 三 is one of the most productive supergroups of the website. Their sound design and meanwhile their strong melodic compositions have been setting new standards for more than two years now. We can hardly wait to get to hear the results of the first Untrust 三 live collaboration in Audiotool Next. Enjoy the Untrust 三 feature and of course the festive season

Musical Style
Chillout, melodic, atmospheric
How did you come together
Originally Aron made the account '/djflashbang/' as a secret account to mess around with, but he decided to invite Aaron for a collaboration project along the way. Then on Steam we were like: why don't we add someone else to spice it up? After thinking about it, Nicklas (Zone) was the perfect one to add, and our styles mixed together really nicely. After our first EP, we decided we could use another spark, and since our melodic game wasn't too strong, Liam (opaqity), whose melodies are really good, was the ideal choice.
How do you work together
The creation of a track can take place in a number of steps: Most of the time someone just creates/initializes a draft with a few basic things added. The draft normally stays there for a good while, but at some point someone picks it up and the others join in on the fun. We try to discuss what we like and dislike about the track and when everyone, somehow, has agreed on the concept and sound we do some final touch-ups (remove excess synths, samples, patterns etc.) and publish the track. We only have things in our songs that we all like, if one of us doesn't like something he can just delete it.
How do you communicate
At the moment, since everyone can't work on the same track at the same time we simply keep each other updated on changes to drafts/sharing music etc. via a Facebook group chat.
What makes your collab special (the chemistry between you)
Each of us has his own unique style and signature features when it comes to music. Some of us are better at some things than others - but when we are all working together on something, then it doesn't really matter, since all of the things that make our own tracks unique, merge together into something completely new and interesting.
What will change for your work in next (specially with the live collaboration)
Hopefully the prospect of live collaboration will inspire us to work together and create a lot of new and awesome music. In our current situation, we very rarely have the motivation to start (never mind to complete) a track. Hopefully Next will provide new ways for us to experiment and create things together and start making music regularly.
Message to the community
It is important to try new things and by working in a team it is possible to discover new perspectives on creating music. Get out there and collaborate with other artists, share ideas and blend your styles. Who knows, you might also end up making something better than you expected and in the process make some new friends. Most important of all, have fun!
