Sometimes when adding a note region it will look striped and not playback any sounds. Why does this happen and how can I fix it?

Sometimes when adding a note region it will look striped and not playback any sounds. Why does this happen and how can I fix it?

it means it is muted. look on the left of the tracks and you can see little circles, if they are white they are playing sound and if they are black then they are muted. you click on them to toggle it.
