A quick short tutor sesh from my understandings of the tool

To my explanations: Threshold lowers the volume of the input when the sidechain is triggered.

Ratio is how much time it takes for the volume to return to normal.

Sidechaining your sounds makes your drums sound powerful, as if they are an important factor of the piece, which they are.

  • you have a couple errors in the desc fyi

threshold is how loud a signal has to be for compression to trigger

ratio is by how much the signal is being compressed (1:2 = 1/2 the volume, etc)

the release knob is what affects how long it takes for the signal to return to normal

    • I was gonna comment this just now haha. Thanks for informing :)

    • oh well, thank you for adding this in pendragon, I don't know so much of the technicalities of audio engineering. :)

  • I prefer aux send sidechain

    • it's so useful lol

    • multiple ways to achieve the same idea, this is just my idea "To my understandings" but I never noticed you could use aux send. Cool :)

    • ^^^^

  • Can all the bigger artists put this tutorial on their wall so that newer folks get this concept quickly?

  • pads in here are super nice tho lol

  • Oooo
