For https://www.audiotool.com/board/news/beatbox_day_is_here-40uad , a cute little track for which the main inspiration was using the cowbell as a 5th interval to make dope chords. Unfortunately, I don't know how to fit dope chords into a track like this, so alas, I settled on 3 uninteresting 7th chords. Also I'm away from my "studio" so all I had for mixing were some shitty bluetooth earbuds that are too bass-heavy. Who knows if I've over or under-compensated. I might fix it after the competition is over. Typically with challenges like this, I use filter resonance to produce tones and distortion to introduce harmonics, which creates a lot of flexibility but also mangles the original sounds beyond recognition. Here, I wanted to keep the 808 sounds mostly recognizable, so I only created tones by using the Rasselbock to pitch things down. kick: kick + conga with Rasselbock stop for extra punch stabby 7th chords: 2 cowbells at minor or major 3rds 16th note melody: clave 16th note arp: conga pad: like the stabby chords, but with full wet reverb bass "guitar" in the break: yet more cowbell

I still remember your song Peachy... It's impressive to see that you're even more brilliant than you were over 10 years ago.

self promotion throwback to the cowbell-only https://www.audiotool.com/track/milkiest_cowbell/ which also could have been an entry.

For me until today one of the most useless sounds in electronic music history
