Recovered handheld recording, dated September 14th, 1992.

The tape was discovered by two hikers in a remote section of [redacted] National Forest.

The device appeared to have fallen from a great height; the casing was cracked, and the tape itself partially warped, but still playable. The hikers, disturbed by what they had found, turned it over to local authorities.

The footage appears to show a lone night security officer stationed at [redacted] office building. Background details-including vending machines, office equipment, and interior layout— were later confirmed to match that location.

Records show the guard had repeatedly reported strange disturbances during overnight shifts, citing footsteps, electrical malfunctions, and unexplained noises. His superiors reportedly dismissed the claims.

At approximately 0243 a.m. on the tape, the recording begins to distort heavily. Loud vibrations, mechanical warping, and structural movement can be heard before the officer is abruptly pulled away from the device. The camera itself is then drawn into the disturbance.

After several seconds of severe audio corruption, the device seems to fall through open air before striking the ground. The final section of the tape captures faint forest ambience before ending.

The body of the officer has never been recovered. Based on the evidence, investigators concluded he fell alongside the device, though no remains were located despite extensive searches of the surrounding wilderness. The building itself was later inspected, but no signs of forced entry, sabotage, or structural damage were found. The case remains unsolved.

  • you could actually work on sfx for movies this is cool

  • I like little stuff like this. A fun use of the imagination and picturing the scenarios in your head.

    • I just love this kind of stuff, where it’s a type of indirect horror. I have a place in my heart for analog horror. Not too gory, but still unsettling and creepy!

  • That buzz in the background gives me nostalgia and ptsd. Reminds me of the feedback of the electrical current you get on some audio gear 😭

  • Pretty unique on Audiotool, as far as I know. The idea and its implementation are really cool.

  • Yall, this actually sounds epic compared to my other Found Footage tracks. This one was so well put together I’m so proud! Not trying to boast or anything, but i truly am proud of myself on this one. That scene with the portal spawning in is just… mmmmm perfect!

  • Sertified hood classic, love the 56/163 time signature
