Most of March was spent working on finishing a few of my previous ideas, so I didn't end up starting too many new ones. April was a much more productive month, so I figured I'd just combine the two.

As usual, descriptions for each will be in the comments

  • 0:00 - 3/1/25 - "night" I tested out Suno AI's abilities to make thrash metal to see how cooked I was. I liked one of the riffs it came up with so I tried to recreate it. Do not take my use of AI as an endorsement of it, it was an experiment and while I think it's interesting, I do not and will not use it in my work.

0:33 - 3/5/25 - "ghosts" Oh hey, it's an early demo of Prometheus! I wanted more of that raw sound for this track which is why it sounds so different.

    • 5:33 - 4/13/25 "Hands" - not much to say about this one. The name comes from Fall Into Your Hands by Trivium, which the second riff comes from. I don't know why I included it, it doesn't even fit into the song well.

6:30 - 4/20/25 "Hammer" - as usual, saved the best for last. This is another that I started on my guitar, although I was playing with slides and not hammer-ons like this version has. While I feel like I'm getting better at guitar, progress has still been really slow.

    • 4:21 - 4/9/25 "Terror" This one was actually started on my real guitar before I recreated it in FL Studio. The name comes from Dream Theater's Night Terror, which this sounds like a slower version of.

4:53 - 4/11/25 "Scars" - Inspired slightly by "Scar Spangled Banner" by Exodus. I also purchased a new drum VST which you'll hear for the remainder of these ideas.

    • 1:34 - 3/27/2025 "shoes part 2" As seems to be customary with these, I partially played this one myself. First experiment with Drop C tuning and add9 chords.

2:39 - 4/2/25 "war" This was kind of an idea I had in my head for a while, inspired a bit by "War is my Shepherd" by Exodus.

3:43 - 4/4/25 "Trivial" almost a direct recreation of the verse sections from Trivium's "In The Court of the Dragon." An earlier version even had Matt Heafy's vocals, but I removed them for this.
