  You should replicate a melody, instead of using a sampled melody. To get started, you don't really need a full chord progression that just repeats every bar and it's nothing complicated. So like, take two thirds of a chords root notes, and fill in two notes of the chord progression. Just keep it super simple, and super repetitive.

  As for you drums, find a short snappy 808 (Pyrex, or Plug) or create your own. But make sure it's tuned well to the melody and such.

    Another tip is that super thin sounds in the melody will layer up nicely. So it's all according to your preference, and the "type beat" remake of a song.
