I learned a lot of what I know on AT by listening to other tracks and remixing them to learn how they work. I recommend exploring chiptune that you like and analyzing those pieces to note the differences, both on audiotool and abroad.
Now I'm no expert, but Chiptune isn't so different from other genres. Most principles that you would use elsewhere also work just fine here. I'd recommend reaching out to more people if you would like to know more, as music is an art performed in many ways.
