You walk down the crowded street because you have to, not because you want to. You hope as hard as you possibly can that you don't encounter the person, who could be in the crowd. You don't know. You don't want to take the chance with anybody, so you brush past people not knowing if you know them or not, your unwavering gaze pointing straight ahead as you pretend that you have tunnel vision.

Inspiration for this occurred as I was walking down the street beatboxing a hat, looking straight ahead so that if a chance encounter were to occur, I could pretend to not notice.
