From 1:12 onwards is the best :D

-

Hey guys - I have returned to AT after 10 months, and I'm glad to be back!

-

Over the time I've been gone from AT I've grown an interest in a wide variety of electronic music genres. I've tried to reflect some elements of those in this track. It may be a bit quiet, since I've been trying to focus on a good, clean sound design.

-

Area(s) of Improvement:

--> The overall sound design isn't as full as I hoped it would be - I tried adding a sub and stereo enhancers to some synths but I don't think it was the right course of action. I think the main problem are the synths themselves, as most of them were comprised of heavily tweaked presets.

-

I hope you enjoy, and please tell me where I could improve if possible :)

-

And remember: Always Smile! :D

Turned up reverb on the saws, and completely demolished their low-end frequencies and tried to replace it with the 808s - in which I have turned both up, tweaked the stereo slightly and tried to make sure they don't clash (as much)

    -

Drums also turned up A LOT.

    ...Uhhh that's about it! :D

  • It probably helps if you turned the sub down a lot, then turn up the overall volume.

    'Tis nais tho.

@PREPARE2QUALIFY wrote a whole essay on how to improve this so here ya go basterd :)

Properly cut out the low end on all basses - might introduce a pEQ later.

I drastically increased the volume of all my synths while still trying to maintain a good balance on all of them, particularly raised up the saws a bit, yk.

    - @PREPARE2QUALIFY , How does it sound? >:) I'll continue to work on this and other tracks in the meantime.

  • the concept is cool, youve improved on your percussion for sure

i would keep experimenting with the rasselbock to get better at it, but i wouldnt use it so much in one track because it becomes repetitive

the lead and supporting synths are a bit muddy, I would use the curve and the pEQ to define the frequencies you want (in this case high to mid, take out the lows completely)

and towards the middle of the track you have 2 subs layered over each other, one is sliding and the other is not

    • Ah fudge - here goes nothing!

    • oh yeah and make sure if you have a bassline that is sliding, dont layer the bass because it will sound weird unless they are sliding with the exact same notes at the exact same time

    • cont.

This makes the notes clash. if you layer bass, i would make one synth one octave higher than the main sub, add a little bit of distortion to it, and take out the very lowest frequencies just a little bit so they dont clash.

i like the melody personally so kudos for that

use a little bit more reverb for those arpy/saw type synths and youre good

      thats all i have

      good work!

Thanks @XyPhr for a few pointers!!

I turned down the sub a notch and turned everything else up pretty much. Added a bit of stereo on the kick 808 and slightly edited the curve on the machiniste - mainly to cut out high-end noise. Enjoy!

  • - Still quiet, sorry can't do nothing about that. It's just the way I designed this. So turn up your fricking headphones and stop complaining >:) (Not that anyone was complaining lol)
