i made a cool violin sound so i thought it would be fun to use it. i decided to make an orchestral track with it, just for kicks. turns out it was really fun. i made the exact same synth three times, one panned to center, another 30% right, the other 30% left, to give it a more real and orchestral feel. i also changed the velocities of the notes to give it a more real feel and have a little more movement. some small volume changes and it's finished. please crit harshly

  • I'm very impressed by this sound design. These are strings I really wish I had available as a preset. Way better than the ones I made in Ableton.

    • there is a preset i made, u just have to use a couple of effects afterwards (the reverb is most important) u can open it up to see how i did it

  • humanize that shit and get some of the beats out by detuning with the chorus pedal instead. The mid range lows sound amazing and pretty damn convincing, by the way. Fucking awesome work on your synth design!

    slightly more chorus and reverb

  • there's too much vibrato when the notes get high, i think i might make a few separate violin synths to play the high notes instead of just recycling the ones i already used

    • ^^^ i agree with that. the high notes definitely don’t sound as good as the cello ranged ones

  • reverb is a bit tinny, you could warm that up with some flanger/chorus. really nice sounds otherwise! i like the countermelodies you have going on

edit: stereo detune can work nicely on reverb as well

  • Republished

humanized the notes and added chorus

  • Damn, that’s really accurate

  • reminds me of the Annihilation soundtrack

  • OOOOOOOO
