Cal Lycus
Calum Price
From his earliest Audiotool days Cal Lycus aka The Marquis was not satisfied with just making his own music and continuously improving it – which he did, without a doubt. His involvement in Community matters manifested itself in the projects and ideas (some of them really fun) which he has brought in over the years. At the moment he is, as co-initiator, working on the ATU-Podcast series, which he also moderates in a fresh way. A valuable member of the Crowd, whose music deserves more attention than it has been getting.

- Musical Style
- I guess at the moment Drum and Bass or Halftime. I like making Techno and atmospheric stuff too. There will be more Atmospheric/Ambient in the future.
- Musical Background
- Piano lessons from age 8 - 11. Drums from 12 - 16.
- Started making music
- January 27th 2012 according to Audiotool.
- On Audiotool
- I was writing lyrics and poetry around that time (January 2012) and decided I wanted to put something behind the lyrics, so I could find a singer and record it and see how it sounded. I searched for a free way to make music using the Google app store and found Audiotool. I struggled to get what I wanted from it but found the actual website and after listening to a few tracks from Astrum, Yas and - I think - Syntax I decided I would have more fun making electronic music. Previous exposure to electronic stuff - aside from anything made with synthesised drums or a synth here and there - would have been The Prodigy or Pendulum. Techno, Hardstyle, House (though later realised I had heard house and Old-Skool Garage before), Dubstep etc. were all very new to me. After a fair few terrible tracks made from horribly mashed samples, I started playing with the drum machines and synths, little bits of feedback from the likes of Jambam, Olondro, Shakey et. al and suddenly I started to improve.
- Message to the community
- Make your music, your way, but be willing to take on the advice given to you. That's important. I enjoy making music, I enjoy using Audiotool but lately I have dropped out of the community because it is just too intense and too childish. Chill out. This is a great tool and a great site filled with great people, so don't spoil it with "AT Drama" and enjoy the music. To the staff - past, present and future: You guys are doing awesome things, all of you. So thank you. ATU Podcast: http://www.podcastchart.com/podcasts/audiotool-underground or http://kh01.me/atu/
