Mute
Paul Linwood
Mute's output rate is not the highest but everything he publishes has a special quality. In everyone of his cool Breakbeats and Dub tracks you can hear the experience he has collected over the years in this field of electronic music both as a producer and a consumer. Look by on him it's definitely worth it.

- Musical Style
- I don't think I keep to a specific style, but if I have to break it down to some keywords I'd say I make rhythmic Bass Music with an influence of Reggae/Dub and Breakbeat.
- Musical Background
- I took guitar lessons for 3 years when I was young but I never really was too enthusiastic about it. I still like to pick up the guitar now and then but don't have the ambition or skills to take it to a next level. When I was about 14 years old some mates and I got into Hip Hop. They used to freestyle Rap to my beatboxing. It was around then when I got interested in software music production. I tried to get the hang of different DAWs (FL, Logic) but never was very good and often lost motivation. At 17 I met a mate who was collecting old school Drum and Bass and Jungle vinyls. He had a music room we used to hang out in and jam all night long. About 4 years ago I discovered Dubstep when it was at the beginning of its hype. I quickly fell in love with the deeper and dubbier side of it and started to collect vinyl too. A couple of weeks ago I only just had my first DJ club performance, which was quite exciting.
- On Audiotool
- About two to three years ago a mate, who was also hanging out in the music room told me to check out Audiotool. I really liked the fact that it isn't as complex as professional DAWs but still offers a huge amount of options to create sounds and effects. The possibility to open other users tracks and study them is still really inspirational to me today.
- Message to the community
- First of all, I'd like to thank the Audiotool development team for investing countless hours in building this great platform. As the suggestions page already says: continue being awesome! :) I'd like to see people digging a little deeper in the depths of Audiotool, instead of only checking the front page and the most rated pieces. There's a lot of people who are rather reserved and don't get the attention their music deserves. Otherwise keep the vibes positive and keep on doing what inspires you and you love to do. A path will open up finally.
