i need info on mixing lyrics. ive never done any vocals, and i plan on doing some VERY VERY soon, so this is some really important information that i need.

  • The usual steps for recorded lyrics are: editing (taking out unnecessary breaths, smacks, etc.), compression or volume automation to make the dynamics more even, and EQ, to remove unnecessary low end or boominess and enhance clarity. Deessing is also common, it's a form of specialized EQ. From there, everything else is creative mixing and processing (reverbs, delays, chorusing, filters, etc.) to fit the track.

  • I know you are asking here but if it's so important can't you just look online?

    • you make a good point, but i wanted to get some input from whoever on audiotool know about this, because god knows imma get a tutorial for lyrics on FL or ableton which wont help me as well as someone giving me tips and pointers straight from the heart of audiotool.
