Lo-Fi House

back in the day during the sample ban, it was cool to make lofi without them. That sound with that nostalgia in it.

i see u are going back to your roots here and with the last few tracks this is very cool

Dec 27, 21

Yewh, just reminding myself I can still make lofi house. Although it has become boring to me

Dec 15, 21

wait what was the sample ban again i've heard about it but I never really looked anything else towards it lol

Feb 21, 22

moderatorcore is the new thing now.

Feb 21, 22

if your goal is soundcore I am beyond ahead of you as is

Feb 21, 22

>:] Birdcore isn't dead - although I admit that it's not active right now lol - I have loads of sound synthesis ideas beyond birds but I like to vary with genres & projects. Otherwise, I quickly get bored I think what titik was trying to say is that your usage of the studio is quite unique here :)

Feb 21, 22

and it was all accidental at best Xdddddddddddddddddddd- but in this case, i'd say both you AND seafoam are the two peeps who I enjoy seeing y'alls synth usage the most lol and man i gotta help relive birdcore cause it d e a d and i totally have a very smart and totally kewl idea how to bring its "activity" back xd

Feb 21, 22

coming back to this - sila, breaking boundaries with synths, after sea foam made a whole genre because he broke the bird boundaries. Ahahaha

Dec 15, 21

idk i just like how you use synths the most lol

Dec 15, 21

@tikowun u trippin my bro.. what boundaries have I broken on this website in terms of synths? 🤣🤣

Dec 15, 21

From a producer perspective, synths and samples may be different approaches to produce music, the "ideal" being maybe to learn both to be able to put in sounds exactly what is in your mind and your heart, but in the end, as a listener, the only thing that matters is the vibe, the feelings shared through sounds by the artist

Dec 15, 21

both of their tracks are all just "heck it, imagine if i did THIS with this synth or sample" but maxed out to the point of no return

Dec 15, 21

imo sila is a boundary-breaker in terms of synth usage rain is a boundary-breaker in terms of sample usage lol

Dec 15, 21

sila is interesting too, but rain's tracks scream experimental

Dec 15, 21

rain is probably the most interesting user to me in that regard as many years I listened to his stuff

Dec 15, 21

sampling I find very interesting out the the fact you are making something completely different out of what someone else made but different to what extent really defines it at heart

Dec 15, 21

I've passed a handful of discussions regarding sampling either way I wanted to get those two cents out of the way do not mind me as I understand your angle from how I see sampling, it is just reusing or repurposing already existent ideas in regards to what I said earlier people do not see it as so, so we end up with a lot of content on our site (and the industry guilty as charged) sounding the same

Dec 15, 21

@aya-chan fully agree, but not sure there's a debate here, my words may have been misinterpreted... When I came back here, I vaguely learnt about this sample issue. Not knowing all the details, I preferred to filter only the safe samples. It drastically reduced my sample library, so I had no other choice than to learn about the synths. Good sampling requires skills that I do not have and, in the end, synths may be even easier to work with than samples

Dec 15, 21

sampling can be complex as synth design given a deep dive but I am just echoing the same debate here

Dec 15, 21

I would like to say people should like give sampling more leeway as much stigma it gets as is like today you can do plenty more with samples than before next launched but I guess it is what it is until people are more encouraged to think outside the box when it comes down it
