Never had a piano, so I decided to build one.

Maybe the beginning of a series of synthesized acoustic instrument patches (?), we'll see.

Two humanized MIDI files to introduce the patch's sound design, and to make it easily comparable with real piano performances:

-

1. Erik Satie - Trois Gnossiennes (60 bpm)

0:00 with Reverb FX

5:28 without FX

-

2. Richard Rodgers - My Funny Valentine (70 bpm)

11:28 with Chorus FX

Tips:

1. Play notes only in the NoteSplitter named 'Keyboard', as the 3 Heisenberg (corresponding to hammered strings, harmonics and hammers) should be triggered at the same time.

2. At the end of the chain, 2 effects and an equaliser are ready for use: 'Chorus FX', 'Reverb FX' and 'Curve EQ'. Depending on the sounds you are looking for, you may have to activate them and to adjust their settings, or to bypass them. These 3 devices are not core elements of the patch but they can add a nice finishing touch.

3. Humanize the notes (right click on the note region) to make it more realistic.

4. If you have any question, I'll do my best to help!

Feedback is more than welcome. One of my main obstacles right now is that, having no piano, I cannot hear exactly how it sounds. While composing with this patch, if you ever encounter some weird noises that do not sound like a piano, please share it with me so that I can fix and update the patch.

Have fun :)

  • after listening to this whole I view this as more of an electric piano

"but no non this is synth pian-"

    yes I know that

    • i am trying my best not to cringe and reply after seeing that as of now via dropdown

      do not reply

    • Well noted, Aya Chan

    • need not worry about flaws

just rebrand it as the Deep Wave Electric Piano and nobody will notice

      profit

WAIT WHAT HOW DID 1 1/2 MONTHS PASS BY LIKE IT WAS NOTHING HUH'ST'VE?

  • holy cow

  • Currently reworking several aspects of the piano patch including brightness, width, LFO, and the mechanism sounds. Might publish the new version this week.

  • this is crazy

  • luvly

    would luv to hear

    [Gymnopedie No.1 by Eric Satie]

  • Listening to the demo music in the first track while reading the description made it feel very Machiavellian for some reason lol

    • Ahah :)

Yeah, I listened a lot to his album 'Moon & Sand'

    • Third track reminds me a lot of Kenny Burrell's playing, I think you'll like him

  • I played the first gnossienne at piano, I'm really happy to hear it there, and I love the way you play it with the synth !

  • really nice. 2nd one almost sounds guitarish. very well done as usual

    • Thank you, friend :) yeah, I actually came across more guitarish sounds with slight modifications to make it pluckier. I think that the slight chorus makes it warmer like a guitar and the notes in some chord are triggered one after another instead of all together, like when strumming a guitar

  • You inspire me every time , thank you !

  • Brilliant work. If I could wish something: I would love to hear some synthesized applause after the next one 😀

  • also i realized that unisono is set to 4 so it cannot play big boy chords unless i nerf it

  • Very nice work , my friend.

As for the sound, it's hard to say.I am not competent in this.

  • as a certified non-expert of piano playing, i'd say this perfectly sounds like a piano and it makes me freaking happy to see you pushing through the FXs and the synths to learn how to make a near-accurate piano, and it makes me so happy having to hear this, and I'm gonna flippin' listen to this from start to finish (definitely helping me with drawing lol)

    just flipping beautiful to listen to rn and I'm only two minutes in! ;V;
