The sample was originally used during the peak cultural influence of Old School Hip-Hop by a New York based producer named Pete Rock using this colorful, vibrant and emotional sample but he used it not too creatively by just looping the beginning for the chorus and looping another sample for the verse and this is a creative and innovative way to produce as you're blending two different genres, sounds, pitches, keys, instruments to flow smoothly as one( it is the best part of the sample he used though). And I'm not putting down his talent as Pete Rock has made some of the most creatively mindblowing beats that pushed the standard for Hip-Hop forward but this isn't his most creative although it is creative but I felt If I used the sample by chopping a different part of the sample more intricately to create a semi- original melody I'd feel I'd have made a more innovative beat. The sample gives me Los Angeles Hip-Hop vibes as it's so colorful and exciting it reminds me of the chaotic yet uplifting environment of L.A. It also has that early Kanye West mood and although it reminds me of L.A it ironically has the JAY-Z New York East Coast kind of emotion too it like how the Blueprint does.

    • I didn't even quantise my drums I used the sample as a way to time my kicks and snares and the sample has a sick hi hat pattern so i didn't need to add a pattern although I did chop it not as much as would have liked to but you can still be creative without chopping too much.
