I can't help that much with this. Really isn't my genre. The bass in the first part gives me slight world princess/ sir nightshade vibes. Cut those hats if you want it to be chill I reckon ( 00:41 ). I really enjoy the second part. And here the hats fit. I think you could turn the compression down a notch, so that it doesn't cut in as hard. But yeah cool thing overall.

for the hats, he had the right idea bandpassing them, but the pattern is bad.

I don't think he used compressors. I think he just used a super loud hunk of bass.
