i'm always going to ask first and always credit the original creator just a rule i operate by but yeah if i ever nearly crash my computer trying to open one of your drafts and manage to pull anything from it, the first thing i'll do is figure out how it works

ah yes mid/side eq the only time ive ever heard someone talk about that is in the form of "oh just mono your basses"

Another thing that really helps is an EQ method called Mid/Side EQ. Basically what that is, is an EQ for 'mono' frequencies, and an EQ for 'side' frequencies. If you don't know what 'side' frequencies (aka side information) are, it's basically the opposite of mono - completely stereo. Using that EQ trick can make your lows shine A LOT better. Basically you just high-pass the low-end on the 'side' EQ, at like 240hz, and then BOOM, your low-end is much more clear

And then boom, your EQ that you used to figure out where the kicks fundamental is, now is compensated for, and the synths still shine. It's a small trick that makes all the difference

Learning to compensate for other sounds is a very important, but also really easy way of mixing. --- Basically, for example; a kick on centroid 1 has it's fundamental at 100hz. And sidechain isn't enough, because it still sounds like the kick is drowning in the mix. What you do is: - put an eq on the kick, figure out where it peaks the most (100hz as I mentioned before) and then get a bell, and put it at 100hz, and then turn it down by 3-6 db. - next put that eq ON your synth centroid
