only feedback i have as of now (i don't have my headphones) is the intro is too long is fucking diabolical

i also try to fill up as much space when i make ambient beats like this some irl-sounding side snares (with pannning) would work well for this

no yeah i threw stereo on a few different aspects of the song, i mainly try to find pockets of space for each individual sound so that it fills the space up. panning drum sounds to sound a little more like theyre coming from a real kit, letting ambience be wider in the mix to sound like its more around you with the bass just in front of it. i do a lot of experimenting each time i work on a track though

(i lowk am not sure how on-topic this tip is)

if you want it to be atmospheric then you could try a couple different plugins to do different things i would recommend chorus (to widen the stereo) and then stereo enhancer (to widen the stereo even more) or boosting the low mids and turning down the mids, because that's where a lot of ambient pads reside... the mid lowering is to prevent clicking of course you will have to slowly automate the mix lvls of these to lower (or zero) before the drop so nothing clashes in the beat

tempo is a big deal for me, i get very particular about what i like. the idea around the track was to have a longer atmospheric intro to build tension and set up the track. i cut the intro down by like 8 bars though, and i think it works better but i appreciate the feedback bro

but yeah you could have an 8 bar intro w/ some fx, then 16 bars of beat, then an 8 bar bridge, then 16 more bars of beat and then a 4-8 bar outro (or it could just end abruptly)

personally i would round it up to 135 if the tempo doesn't matter all that much to me

what's the bpm for this track

SB28
SB28 Sep 4, 25

well i mean yeah, the drops don't have to last for very long, just enough to have some variation in the drums or add fx/automations (keep the listener engaged) and have enough room for other elements of the song you need to find the sweet spot, 16 bars usually works but the tempo would obviously affect the length in seconds

nah i wanted to keep it short and sweet, i’m trying to experiment with more impactful stuff in little time. this one just felt like it couldn’t drag on forever. lots of feelings tied behind this one for me lol

SB28 Sep 4, 25

make a bridge or two and do stuff there

duckie Sep 4, 25

yeah i was considering making it shorter but there was a lot of things i wanted to do with the fx in the beginning and just not enough time. i’ll keep it in mind for the future tho, thx broski <3

snare has a lot of high end, give it more mid and take back the highs a little bit
