@yeetmanz fun fax: the 808 is a drum machine if i remember correctly. The sound that you are familiar with was created by modifying an original drum machine to overdrive the signal beyond the pre-programmed limits was created as familiar and popular sound so much so that it was programmed into the machine as a function. That original sound was a kick but now it's called an 808 AKA a bass boom.

You can cut out the lower frequencies either by using the highpass mode on a slope or by taking the low shelf band on the curve and bring the band downward, cutting the low frequencies that way.

I think I identified what sample you were talking about that has both a pad and an 808. Since you're trying to use the pad as a melodic sample and other 808 samples at your bass, what you should do is cut out the lower frequencies from the 808 pad (my guess is around 200-300hz) that way the low end from the sample won't clash with your other 808 samples.

Limiting doesn't get rid of certain frequencies (i.e. the pad) it levels them out, so any frequencies that surpass the limiter ceiling will begin to distort which you don"/ always want.

And I didn't use distortion the sample has a 808 pad under it that I can't quite get rid of so it creates a little muddiness with the actual 808
