I recently watched "The Wind Rises", from Studio Ghibli. Many of its film scores are written by Joe Hisaishi. This was inspired by him. In fact, I'm somewhat guilty of copying; one of the chord progressions is the same as that in a "Castle In the Sky" score.

This track is a theme played four times with instrumental variations including string and rock guitar emulations.

  • O SHIT :((

  • I made an 11-minute remix of this once...

    :O

  • is the 7th chord the secondary dominant

  • my god, sounds like a touhou theme <3

  • Reminds me of final fantasy, minus the addition of drums. The way the lead synth sounds... definitely Final Fantasy Dissidia-esque

  • reminds me when TV shows the afternoon programm

  • @Potasmic I first used a pluck-ish synth to act as a piano so that I could write the notes. Then I took the pattern and Machinistified it. Simply move the notes so that the lowest is on C, then move all notes above that so that the lowest note from those is on C#, etc. Basically remove the spaces in between notes. Then I separate the pattern for each Machiniste. For additional changes, I find new notes by listening as I play notes on the Machiniste.

  • Nah, I'm just too lazy to tune Infy's outta tune samples.

  • How do you map these piano samples without getting irritated by the wrongly mapped Machiniste?
