Experimenting with trying to make something feel like it's playing on a worn out tape. If anyone has advice on how I can make the effect better, please chime in.

  • some things i do for this effect are;

    -emulate an unsteady motor by putting a pulsar on the master with 0 delay and 0 feedback. automate the main millisecond delay to get little pitch wobbles! the filter there is pretty useful too.

    -tape often has tiny dips of volume from dust. you can fake that by splitting the left and right channel and occasionally muting and unmuting very quickly. you can hear that on loose threads specifically on the piano that plays at :50

    • This is actually pretty nice. Gonna jump on the remix button.

    • I like these things when something sounds old n fucked up. Did this 3-4 years ago

      17.50Khz

      You can also achieve very great artifacts with pulsar delay effects chain

    • the lfo is useful too but it just jumps between two lengths as opposed to oscillating between them. also you can do a similar effect in mono by using a chorus or stereo detune and then a panorama to get only the left or right channel. lots of fun possibilities!

  • or you could always find an old tape player and pump it through :)

    Improved tape effect, removed percussion that I didn't like

  • a bit of noise/hiss and some saturation could add to the effect
